HOW DO I LOOK AFTER MY PROTECT RUST ITEMS
Water is the enemy of all metal items because it converts the metal into rust. If it doesn’t reside on the surface of the item, then the product should last much longer. So if the product gets wet and the water dries off in a short period of time the product will only marginally be affected (there will be some run off of the product, so you should ensure you carefully consider where you are placing your rust item).
WHAT HAPPENS IF MY RUST PRODUCT IS SCRATCHED
One of the many benefits of rust is that they are what we call ‘self healing’. With some time outside scratches tend to disappear. So with a little patience your product will hide any scratches.
HOW CAN I CONVERT A RUST BOWL INTO A WATER BOWL
We recommend using Fluidfilm.
Fluidfilm is a lanolin-based product (and its even safe if you want fish in your bowl), when used on your rust bowl it gives an impenetrable barrier between water and metal, thus leaving your water crystal clear.
For rust bowls we recommend using the thicker product which you paint on (item code: 19509). This provides a thicker coating and will not require reapplication as often.
This product can be used on all rust items that would come into contact with ‘pooling’ water to preserve the product and give it a longer life.
(Technical information on Fluidfilm is provided in the brochures in the product information section of this website.)
