What is the difference between Fluidfilm and Penetrol?

What is the difference between Fluidfilm and Penetrol?

Both Fluidfilm and Penetrol can protect metal from further rust deterioration and enable our fire pits/rust bowls to be used as water features.

FLUIDFILM

Fluidfilm is lanolin-based. According to the manufacturer, it is a single application barrier (can only be removed by wiping it off).  It is safe, and in fact moisturising for your hands; it is also safe for animals/pets.  Fluidfilm is also very useful for maintaining gardening tools as the lanolin not only protects the metal, but it is also a lubricant.

We range 2 different thicknesses of Fluidfilm:

Spray on – should be used for garden tools

Thicker product – better to coat metal bowls to transform into water features (paint or roller apply)

From our experience though, Fluidfilm does leave a greasy film on the surface of the metal it is applied to, so it is best to apply it sparingly; a little goes a long way.

PENETROL

Penetrol is a petroleum-based product, and therefore evaporates so the product might require reapplication.

With 2 applications (using a small painting roller), Penetrol gives a non-greasy result which seems to last for quite a while.
